Today, June 21st, seeds from all walks of life have landed on Avesta, hoping for a brand new world. Upon arrival, they've had to face the reality of life on the surface, struggling for survival. Obscura has quickly developed into a town, the second society on Avesta to do so. Yet despite this progress, many of its seedlings are frustrated that their needs go unmet. Their cultivators insist this is the price of progress, and that it will raise their standard of living. Whether the sacrifice bears fruit remains to be seen.

City leaders are starting to take root in Obscura with the election of Mayor Storm, who has taken up the mantle of guiding our fledgling town through its earliest stages. He has appointed a council of urban planners to begin zoning lots for new businesses to buy. Among the government's most notable first acts was a joint investment in importing a carpentry skill book to expedite the town's goals, with the government contributing 3,200 seedcoin and Dylan covering the remaining 1,800. The book will be stored inside the kernel for future seedling use.

Looking ahead, Obscura does not know what tomorrow may hold, but for many seedlings, the answer is ruthless competition and corporate prosperity. There has been much chatter about new businesses forming to grow Obscura into the shining jewel of Verdantis. Yet some urban planners have raised concern that the consolidation of allocated lots could choke off city works and future development, raising the specter of Obscura's first case of eminent domain.

That's all for today, but keep an eye out for tomorrow.
